Brian practices in the areas of corporate formation and governance, private equity finance, and real estate transactions.
Brian handles a wide variety of commercial and residential real estate matters for his clients, including developers, landowners, and investors. Brian is well-versed in commercial real estate closings and title reviews. He has represented both borrowers and lending institutions during his career. He also represents his clients in residential real estate transactions.
A significant part of his practice focuses on assisting startups, entrepreneurs, and privately-held companies with their transactional needs, including advising clients in merger and acquisition activities, joint venture structures, capital raises including private placements and Series A financings, and intellectual property licensing.
Prior to attending law school, Brian was an Assistant Vice President with J. P. Morgan Chase Bank in Ft. Worth, Texas, where he was a commercial lender specializing in the middle-market client base.
Brian currently serves as the Chair of the advisory board of the Salvation Army of Charlottesville and he is a member of the board of directors of the Albemarle County Police Foundation. He is also on the board of directors of the Virginia Institute of Autism. In 2021, Brian was appointed as a representative of the City of Charlottesville on the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport Commission.
