2018 Donation Caps 10+ Years of Giving for a Total of $100,000

November 15, 2018—In a joint ceremony held today at Woods Rogers’s Roanoke office, the Board of Directors of The Legal Aid Society of Roanoke Valley accepted the firm’s 2018 contribution, marking a total of $100,000 the firm has given to the organization since 2004.

“I can think of no better way to close out our 125th year of business than to support this important group and the work it does in providing legal services to low-income residents on issues that are important to everyday life—from housing and employment matters to family and domestic concerns,” said Woods Rogers’ President, Dan Summerlin.

“We are pleased that Woods Rogers has, since the inception of our program more than 50 years ago, provided meaningful professional and financial support of our mission to help the poor in our local communities fight the legal entrapments that often hold them in poverty,” said David Beidler, General Counsel for The Legal Aid Society of Roanoke Valley.

The Legal Aid Society of Roanoke Valley was founded in 1966 and recently passed its own half-century anniversary. It provides a full range of civil legal services to low-income residents of Roanoke City and County, Salem City, and the surrounding areas of Botetourt, Craig, Bedford and Franklin counties. Support given by individuals and companies means legal help in civil matters can be provided for people who may have no other hope of assistance—in short, legal aid provides a level playing field and helps make equal justice a reality.
