HR often makes a decision for one employee that impacts others—and these decisions are protected by federal employment laws. These aptly named “rock-and-a-hard-place” issues arise every day in the workplace and can include accommodating an employee’s religious preference, not recognizing a transgender employee’s gender identity, or advising on how to handle an employee’s freedom of speech expression that conflicts with company dress codes. There is no doubt, HR professionals are responsible for bringing tough challenges to resolution. In this session, the audience is presented with several hypothetical situations and then watches as the lawyers present their case and debate just as they would in court.
