Tracy is a trial attorney who focuses her practice on the defense of professionals, including attorneys, realtors, insurance agents and brokers, physicians, psychologists, dentists, and nurses, as well as various health care facilities such as hospitals and large academic medical centers. She also regularly defends a variety of personal injury cases, including cases involving catastrophic injuries and death.

In addition, Tracy has experience representing clients in a variety of other civil litigation matters, including cases involving alleged breach of contract, tortious interference with business and contractual relationships, defamation, and unlawful discrimination. Representative clients have included individuals, small businesses, large businesses, large hospitals and health systems, institutions of higher education, including teaching hospitals, self-insured entities and insureds of numerous national insurance companies.

Tracy has taken hundreds of depositions and has traveled nationwide deposing and defending various experts in complex medical malpractice and other personal injury cases, forming relationships with many of the nation’s top medical doctors and other experts. She has tried multiple cases in state and federal courts throughout Virginia.

Tracy has also successfully represented healthcare providers before various state licensing boards within the Virginia Department of Health Professions, Medical Malpractice Review Panels and the Workers’ Compensation Commission, which adjudicates claims for compensation from the Virginia Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Program. Tracy has also handled appeals to the U.S.
4th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court, including oral arguments before the Virginia Supreme Court.

Keeping clients’ business and personal interests in mind, Tracy has negotiated favorable settlements for many clients, avoiding the time and expense of litigation. She has participated in numerous mediations and other settlement conferences.

During her career, Tracy has lectured to various groups, including physicians, nurses, risk managers, hospital administrators, and attorneys on a variety of topics, including litigation trends, expert witnesses, charting, record keeping, full disclosure, discovery practices, mediation, appeals and periodic changes in laws affecting health care providers throughout Virginia.

Tracy previously volunteered as an attorney-coach with the Model Judiciary Program which provides high school students with the opportunity to learn about Virginia’s judicial system by playing the roles of attorneys, jurors and witnesses in a mock trial and appeal. She continues her community service today as a volunteer and Christmas Committee member with the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother Program, Inc.

Tracy earned her Bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Richmond, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Thereafter, Tracy earned her Juris Doctorate from the Washington & Lee University School of Law, where she was a Best Brief Finalist and Best Oralist Finalist in the John W. Davis Moot Court Competition and worked as a third year practice certified intern in the United States Attorneys’ Office for the Western District of Virginia.

Tracy is a former Chair of the Professional Liability Section and the current Vice Chair of the Appellate Advocacy Section for the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. In addition, Tracy was recently nominated for and chosen as a member of the Virginia Lawyers’ Weekly Influential Women of Law Class of 2021. This awards program honors women attorneys and judges for their excellent work on behalf of the justice system and for their clients, their commitment to their communities, and their service to the profession. In 2021, Tracy was selected to serve a three-year term on the Virginia Supreme Court’s Medical Malpractice Review Panel.
