Michael Yager

Michael is the Director of E-Discovery and manages the litigation workflow as it interfaces with Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM). This includes preservation due diligence, forensic collection of electronically stored information, searching and electronically retrieving documents responsive to discovery, subpoenas, internal investigations, and hosting data on Woods Rogers’ in-house attorney review platform for review, analysis, and production compliant with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and best practices.

Michael has nearly two decades of experience providing technical expertise and support for law firms and data companies with clients in a variety of industries. He has managed hundreds of cases through collecting and analyzing electronically stored information from North America, Europe, South Korea, and Brazil, as well as complying with the related laws and regulations.

Additionally, Michael has presented nearly 100 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses to attorneys nationwide, served on E‑Discovery CLE panels with federal judges in the Fourth Circuit, presented to the Office of Bar Counsel for the Virginia State Bar, met with a visiting foreign judge for expert consultation by invitation of a Virginia Supreme Court Justice, and is published on the subject in the University of Richmond’s Journal of Law and Technology. He designed and built Reynold’s Community College’s E‑Discovery course, which he then taught for three years as Adjunct Professor. He currently assists attorney Beth Waller in teaching technology-focused classes to law students at Washington and Lee University.

After graduating from Old Dominion University (magna cum laude) and the College of William and Mary (summa cum laude), Michael served with the Department of Defense and then on the corporate staff for a Fortune 500 Company in Chicago. Before working with Woods Rogers in his current capacity, he was Vice President of E-Discovery for a small Richmond-based data company.

Michael holds a Seminar Certificate from Harvard University and a Certificate of Text Analytics from a leading provider of legal analytics. He is a passionate supporter of meeting the highest standards of best practice and due diligence in the areas of Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, and E‑Discovery.
