Matt focuses on administrative law and the regulation of energy companies, and on certain types of litigation, such as personal injury law, eminent domain law, and construction law. He represents public utilities in state regulatory proceedings before the Virginia State Corporation Commission. He also represents clients in state and federal courts in matters such as real estate litigation, FELA litigation, intellectual property litigation, commercial disputes, construction law claims, and personal injury litigation.

Matt graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University and received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Washington and Lee University, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and a staff writer for the Law Review.
